Waterford City & County Council is refurbishing a group of social housing units that have stood vacant for a long time. An Irish survey company hired to record these properties needed the scan data converted into usable 3D models and construction drawings, and outsourced that work to Scan to BIM Services UK.
The programme covered 11 units - houses at Ardmore Park, The Crescent (St. John's Park), Dominick Place, Johnstown, Sion View Terrace and Tycor Water Works in Waterford City, a property on Shandon Street in Dungarvan, and The Bungalow at Coolroe. Each house type was to be modelled in Revit at LOD 300 and documented in a full drawing set.
The client supplied scans of the existing units, photographs of the houses and a sample Revit model from a different housing project, which served as a reference for sheet layout, model detailing and working method.
